Be honest with yourself

True self care? Is being honest with yourself.

Being honest with yourself isn’t permission for self-flagellation but rather to allow yourself the grace to truly get to know yourself. Look at the places you ignore, hide or dismiss because you deem them too scary, too difficult or too negative to admit to. Like the boogie man under your bed as a kid, the power those shadows hold over you are only as strong as you make them and most of them have no power at all!

The quicker you can be open and honest with yourself about what’s holding you back (it’s you) or what’s keeping you stuck (still you) the better a chance you have at moving forward and conquering those demons. It’s easy to look outside ourselves, it’s a lot harder to look in the mirror.

True self care? Is being honest with yourself. It’s loving yourself and wanting what is best for you so badly that you are willing to look at where you are getting in your own way towards the achievement of your desires. There is no denying it is one of the hardest forms of self-care, but it’s also the most life changing.

You don’t have to share these truths with anyone but yourself and again, it’s not so you can beat yourself up with them but rather to help you learn how to tackle them. Be honest with yourself, you deserve it.
